DIFK representatives attended the 18th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the International Deposit Insurance Association (IADI) held on 10 – 11 October 2019 in Istanbul

The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) held its 18th Annual General Meeting and

Conference on 10 – 11 October 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey, hosted by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey (SDIF). Two hundred and eighty (280) participants from approximately 70 jurisdictions worldwide attended the events. DIFK was represented by Board Member Mr Bekim Berisha and Mrs. Shqipe Devaja, Senior Legal Officer who attended the 18th Annual General Meeting and IADI Conference. DIFK was represented by Ms. Devaja also at the 60th Meeting of the IADI Executive Council.

The IADI Annual Conference, titled “Realizing Reforms: What has Changed in Deposit Insurance

Systems since the Crisis?”, featured presentations and panel discussions by top policymakers, deposit

insurers and prominent academics on key issues affecting the global economy, financial stability, deposit

insurance and bank resolution.

Major topics discusses were increase of the importance of a deposit insurance system in maintaining financial stability; globalization and cross border issues; rapid change in financial technologies; optimal fund size and the appropriate target for the fund reserve ratio; e-money’s role in expanding financial inclusion in developing economies and deposit insurance need to explore the best way to protect e-money funds etc.
