DIFK at the Annual General Meeting of the European Forum of Deposit Insurers: Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the Financial Market Guarantee System of the Czech Republic and high-level bilateral meetings held with counterpart institutions

As part of its participation in the Annual General Meeting and International Conference of the European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI), held on June 5–6, 2025, in Madrid, the delegation of the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo (DIFK), composed of the Chairman of the Management Board, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, the Managing Director, Ms. Shqipe Devaja, and institutional associates, carried out several important activities aimed at deepening inter-institutional cooperation and advancing deposit insurance standards for protection of depositors.
As part of these engagements, DIFK signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Financial Market Guarantee System of the Czech Republic, aimed at strengthening technical and institutional cooperation, exchanging practical experiences, and providing mutual support in the further development of deposit insurance schemes in line with European Union standards. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Chairperson of the DIFK Management Board and Ms. Renáta Kadlecová, Chairperson of the Management Board of counterpart institution of the Czech Republic.
During this visit, the DIFK delegation held bilateral meetings with representatives of European deposit guarantee schemes, including meetings with leaders of European and international deposit insurance associations: Mr. Stefan Tacke – Chairman of the EFDI Board, Mr. Carlos Colao – Secretary General of EFDI, and Ms. Eva Hupkes – Secretary General of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI). In addition, meetings were held with other deposit guarantee institutions, such as Mr. András Komár – Managing Director of the National Deposit Insurance Fund of Hungary, Mr. José Luis Ballesteros – Director General of the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Credit Institutions of Spain (FGD), and Mr. Genci Mamani – Managing Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency of Albania.
The meetings focused on exchanging experiences in strengthening the role of deposit insurance schemes in maintaining financial stability, as well as on discussions regarding the advancement of structural reforms, regulatory framework harmonization, strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, and building technical and institutional capacities in order to meet European standards to enhance further deposit insurance protection of depositors.
Therefore, platforms like these which, among other things, promote cooperation between central banks, regulatory authorities, insurance deposit schemes, and other public authorities are essential for achieving shared institutional objectives.
