DIFK participated in the International Conference of the European Forum of Deposit Insurers

Two representative of the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo, Director Ms. Violeta Arifi-Krasniqi and Ms. Fatmire Bajrami attended the International Conference organized by the European Forum of Deposit Insurers “EFDI”, hosted by the Deposit Insurance Agency of Lithuania. The conference looked at: Harmonization versus Centralization – Is “EDIS”, European System of Deposit Insurance, path to follow? The conference highlighted two opposing viewpoints, where one side expressed its support to centralization of the deposit insurance system at European level arguing that the architecture for financial stability will be completed with the establishment of EDIS. While the other side advocated the contrary that the deposit insurance system should be kept at the national level to ensure proximity to depositors and maintain confidence.

During the event a session was dedicated to the presentation of the Fund for Compensation of Investors at the international level, with presentations from agencies such as China, Japan, Sweden, Serbia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Italy, Ireland, Georgia, Greece, Bulgaria, Iceland, France, Germany, and Czech Republic. All agencies presented the background and features of the Investors Compensation Scheme – “ICS”. Among other topics, the experiences of the two countries in compensation to investors, the UK and Hungary, were presented.
