Press Release

Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo (DIFK) has published its 2025 Annual Report, presenting the institution’s operational and financial performance, as well as the progress achieved in strengthening the deposit insurance system.

During 2025, DIFK made significant progress in enhancing the deposit insurance system by providing effective protection to depositors and supporting the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo in safeguarding financial stability. The year was characterized by continued growth in key deposit insurance indicators, strong financial performance, and the implementation of important strategic initiatives.

Deposits held by member banks continued their growth trend. Total deposits increased by 14.1% on an annual basis, reaching EUR 7.94 billion, compared to EUR 6.96 billion at the end of 2024, representing an absolute increase of EUR 979 million.

At the end of 2025, insured deposits reached EUR 1.58 billion, up from EUR 1.43 billion in 2024, representing an annual increase of 11.0%, or EUR 156 million. The proportion of insured depositors to the total number of depositors remained exceptionally high at 99.9%, confirming the broad coverage provided by the deposit insurance system.

DIFK continued to deliver strong financial results throughout 2025. Total revenues reached EUR 14.5 million, representing a significant increase of 59% compared to EUR 9.07 million in 2024. This growth was primarily driven by higher premium income following the increase in premium rates, as well as the continued growth of insured deposits. Net income for the year amounted to EUR 13.9 million, an increase of 62% year-on-year, reflecting high operational efficiency and sound financial management.

As of 31 December 2025, the balance of the Deposit Insurance Fund reached EUR 91.5 million, compared to EUR 77.6 million at the end of 2024. The fund coverage ratio, defined as the ratio of the Deposit Insurance Fund to insured deposits, increased to 5.78%, up from 5.44% in 2024, substantially exceeding the statutory threshold of 5%, reflecting continued progress toward the  long term target coverage ratio of 9%.
