DIFK and the World Bank agree the continuation of cooperation for 2022

Following the visit to Kosovo of the Vienna Financial Sector Advisory Center (FinSAC) of the World Bank, Mrs. Arijeta Neziraj Elshani met the representatives of this institution headed by Mr. Vahe Vardanyan with whom she discussed regarding the deposit insurance aspect as well as the role of DIFK in bank resolution. In this regard, Mrs. Neziraj Elshani, informed the participants about DIFK’s activities during 2021 in order to protect depositors and ensure financial stability of the banking sector.
In this meeting, Mrs. Neziraj Elshani stressed the importance of technical assistance provided so far by FinSAC to DIFK and emphasized the need for support in 2022 in terms of further strengthening financial stability in the banking sector. Among other issues addressed were the implementation of a risk management framework with focus on business continuity, capacity building and knowledge enhancement related to bank resolution, as well as other issues related to DIFK’s legal framework.
At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Neziraj Elshani thanked the representatives of the World Bank for the continuous support provided by them in order to increase the capacity and enhance knowledge in the field of deposit insurance.
Participants in this meeting from the World Bank were: Vahe Vardanyan, Lead Financial Sector Specialist, Nan Zhou, Financial Sector Specialist, and Juan Ortiz, Senior Financial Sector Specialist. While representatives from DIFK were: Arijeta Neziraj Elshani, Managing Director, Vllaznim Bytyqi, Senior Finance Officer, and Albulena Aliu Fetai, Senior Officer for Depositor Protection and International Cooperation.
