DIFK met with the IMF Technical Assistance Mission to advance the crisis management and financial stability framework

Pristina, 27 April 2026 – The Managing Director of the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo (DIFK), Ms. Shqipe Devaja, together with the Senior Compensation Officer, Ms. Lirika Ulaj, met with representatives of the Technical Assistance Mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Ms. Vasilika Kota, Senior Financial Sector Expert, and Ms. Minke Gort, Senior Expert from the Monetary and Capital Markets Department.
The purpose of the meeting was to support the advancement of the inter-institutional framework for crisis management and to strengthen financial stability in Kosovo.
During the meeting, the IMF Mission representatives presented the key objectives and components of the technical assistance, focusing on formalizing and strengthening effective inter-institutional coordination among financial safety net participants, with the aim of enhancing institutional preparedness for the prevention, preparedness, and management of financial crisis situations.
Ms. Devaja expressed her appreciation for the IMF’s continued support to reforms in the financial sector and informed the IMF team about recent developments in the deposit insurance system in the Republic of Kosovo. She emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination among financial safety net institutions, particularly in the areas of crisis management, early intervention, bank resolution, and the effective use of funds, with the objective of advancing institutional capacities and fulfilling public policy objectives related to maintaining financial stability and protecting depositors.
In this context, she also underlined the importance of alignment with Core Principle 17 of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, which requires the formalization of cooperation and interaction between DIFK and other relevant institutions within the financial safety net.
