Chair of Managing Board

Ahmet Ismaili completed his studies at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” in the Faculty of Economics, and holds the title of Doctor of Economic Sciences, in the Department of Banking and Finance.

Ismaili has a nearly 19-year career in the field of banking and finance, holding senior management positions, with significant results in the financial industry and the public sector.

The 12-year professional experience includes working in the financial industry, especially in banking industry and insurance, in various positions up to management positions (General Manager and Board Member), in both local and international banking financial institutions.

For a full 5-year term, he served as General Director of the State Treasury in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kosovo (MF). As an official, Ismaili was a member of the National Payments Committee at the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), as well as several other inter-institutional commissions, including the Group for the Strategy for Public Finance Reform, Drafting of the Law on State Debt and State Guarantees, etc.

In this duty, he had the opportunity to represent the Republic of Kosovo at higher levels, presenting the country to the main international financial institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB), the US Department of the Treasury, and in professional forums of treasuries and central banks from the region to the United States of America. On behalf of the Republic of Kosovo, he has presided over several negotiation processes for financial agreements with the main international institutions

Finally, Ismaili was Managing Director and Board Member at the independent institution, Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF), while previously, he was a Board Member and Audit Committee Member at the Health Insurance Fund (HIF).

As for the academic side, he has been engaged and lectured for about 8 years at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Prishtina and other accredited universities in Kosovo, both at the Bachelor and Master level, in the following subjects: Banking and Banking Business, Financial Management, Financial Analysis, etc.

Since 2007, Ismaili is a certified senior local trainer and expert of the Kosovo Banking Association (KBA), for the programs of the European Foundation Certificate in Banking (EFCB) and the European Banking and Financial Services Training Association (EBTN). Also, he has completed a large number of professional training sessions abroad.

Ismaili has worked and engaged as an expert and consultant for various international institutions, at the Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF) based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as well as for American financial companies based in Washington D.C.

From August 2023, Ismaili exercises the office of Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) and, as an official, he chairs the Board of the Deposit Insurance Fund (DIFK).

Ismaili is married, has children, and lives in Prishtina.
