Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo signs a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the The Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency and esisuisse (the Swiss Deposit Protection of Banks and Securities Dealers)

On the 14th of December 2015, the Deposit Insurance Fund of Kosovo (DIFK)  the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency (ADIA), and the Swiss Deposit Protection of Banks and Securities Dealers (esisuisse) signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding. The Memorandum was signed by  the Managing Director Ms. Violeta Arifi Krasniqi of FSDK, the General Director Mr. Genci Mamani of ADIA, and the Chief Executive Officer of esisuisse, Mr. Patrick Loeb. The official ceremony for the sigining of the Memorandum was organised in the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Bern, Switzerland, in cooperation with the diplomatic staff of this Embassy. Appreciating the importance of this Memorandum, apart from high representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Albania, present in the ceremony were also Mr. Mustafë Xhemaili, Representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Switzerland, Ms. Gail Verley, Secretary General of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, as well as other officials of the signatory institutions.

For this occassion, in her brief speech, the Managing Director of DIFK, Ms. Violeta Arifi Krasniqi, appreciated the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and the cooperation that is being institutionalised through it. She stated that cooperation framework established today enables continues advancement of our institutions in adoption of best practice and effective deposit insurance systems.

The ADIA General Director, Mr. Mamani stressed that this Memorandum is an important step in the Agency’s continued efforts in increasing cooperation with homologous deposit insurers. “The Memorandum, – he said – through the mutual exchange of experiences, aims at strengthening human capacities and improving the deposit insurance scheme in these jurisidictions in line with best international standards”. Mr. Mamani also expressed his gratitude for Ambassador Mr. Ilir Gjoni and the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Albania, underlining that the Embassy’s hospitality during this ceremony contributes in increasing Albania’s role as a promoter of the cooperation in the region and beyond.

In addition, Mr. Patrick Loeb, Chief Executive Officer of esisuisse, claimed that this Memorandum is an important step in the cooperation among european deposit insurers for the mutual exchange of experiences.

The signing of the Memorandum was also applauded by other guests, who valued its importance as well as the role of deposit insuring institutions in protecting and strengthening financial stability.
